Comrade Bhagat , yes this is what the people at HSRA(Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) used to call Bhagat singh, that intellectual-brave revolutionary who gave his life smiling, along with his fellow comrades Sukhdev and Rajguru becoming an inspirations for the generations to come. Bhagat singh had a strong feeling once the white rulers leave the country brown rulers will replace them and things more or less remain the same; so instead of an uprising of upper class( what congress actually was) he was a supporter labour and farmer uprising, the real mass of the nation.
Bhagat Singh was majorly inspired by the communist revolution of Russia and he had great respect for Lenin. Stories have it that on the day he was hanged he was reading a book on Lenin and said “let one revolutionary meet the other one! “. His atheism is also not something hidden, he was a self declared atheist, who went on to compile his feelings in his essay “why I am an Atheist? “
The group HSRA, was itself a communist group, they had images of Marx and Lenin in their rooms, and they were working on the path of a communist armed rebellion against the British Raj. They worked for the drought hit Bengal when the leaders and the Raj almost neglected the drought victims.
Now, the major thing of concern is the way name of Bhagat singh is being used today with groups like “ Bhagat Singh kranti sena”; who foolishly go on slapping people and think that they have done something heroic. Moreover, these groups do nothing significant, and certainly nothing that appear communist, they don’t build up common mass support nor work for the unification of farmers or labourers.
These groups instead go on to criticize the communist ideologies not knowing that the man they claim to idolise, was actually a proud communist . They go on behaving like self declared protector of culture and unity, doing nothing significant except doing acts which suits local self styled goons.
Why just these groups even our history books at school give no reference to the actual ideologies of bhagat singh, they sign off referring to the heroic work of Bhagat Singh and his organisation, but never do they tell the students what the real ideologies of Bhagat Singh were.
Even the Right wing people claim to be the followers of Bhagat Singh, wonder if they know the Bhagat Singh didn’t like right wing people, he believed that the religious politics will divide the nation, and independence can’t be achieved without all religions coming together.
The so called supporters of Bhagat Singh today, use his name “TO JUSTIFY ANY KIND OF EXTREMIST ACT”. Should this be tolerated?? Yes, we all are Indians and we all have equal respect for the legend but the thing is should the misplaced ideologies of Bhagat Singh be brought to its right place. Shall school books be allowed to come with ideologies of HSRA like they put up the gandhian values??
LONG LIVE THE SACRED REVOLUTION!!!!
