They discussed about the likeliness of veracity of the statements made by Rupali, Vineet and Rohit. The SP, however, refrained for asking any personal questions to Lela like the quality of her relationships with Mr. Suri. He wanted to give her time till she became mentally stable. They were bewildered about the recent developments in the case beside, the discovery of the footmarks at the courtyard and on the ledge of the windows, the string mark around the neck of the deceased made them more confused about the gender of the murderer. However, the SP had taken soil samples from the house of Rupali, Vineet and Rohit. It was sent to forensic department.
The lawyer pondered over the photographs of the shoe marks .It was clear from the photos that it was a male foot mark. Moreover, the death had resulted not by the hammer, but due to chocking of throat.
According to the statements made by Vineet and Rohit during interrogations , they left Mr. Alok Suri in his bedroom in the presence of Lela to which she cross verified as true ,while Lela accompanied them up to the exit door, when they left which was true according the cross verification by Vineet and Rohit. Ruplai was not present in the town that night. So, the possibility of Ruplai being the murderer was clearly ruled out. Now, the case revolved around three persons, Lela, Vineet and Rohit. According to Lela, as Mr.Suri, had an early flight for Dubai, on the pretext of not getting disturbed she went to the adjacent room to sleep. It was at, around 3.40am that she had got up to drink water.
She went to the dining room, took the bottle of water and went to Mr.Suri’s room, to call him, as he was about to catch a flight in the wee hours. When she opened the door, she saw Mr. Suri lying on the ground beside the bed adjacent to the window. Blood spilled all over the floor from the head. The sledge hammer was found near the death body Mr. Suri. But, the string that caused the chock wasn’t found at the murder site.
The police search the entire house, but that also doesn’t rendered in the discovery of the string. However, Mrs. Lela didn’t mention about the windows in her statement .Maybe, due to the shock of the situation, she not only didn’t noticed the open windows, let alone the footmark, she simply didn’t noticed anything else. Next, she called Vineet at around 4pm, who according to the Lela arrived at around 4.30am.The second call she made the to the officer in charge (OC) Mr. Joydev Bakshi, which was correctly verified by checking the call records of the phone. It was also cross verified by one of the cellular serves company executives.
In between this she didn’t called anyone else. Numerous questions emerged in the head of the lawyer, as to what would have been the motive behind the murder? The cash was looted from the locker. Was it for money, business rivalry? Or something more than that. “If it had been for money, what is the point of killing a person for few thousands of rupees?” The SP questioned the lawyer. “Maybe, money was not the exact motive and that after the murder, the killer just to distract the attention of police, looted a few cash left in the locker.” The lawyer replied. “Then May be out of business rivalry?” The SP concluded. “Or maybe personal grudges and greed of his dear ones”.the lawyer added. It was obvious that Lela would be the immediate, if not the ultimate, beneficiary of the entire estate including business, property, investments and all.
She might be of the killer. Moreover, Vineet was after Mr. Suri’s business. According to the will of Mr. Suri, there was an equal division of property and benefits arising out of business among Lela and Ruplai. While Vineet was about to get the benefits arising out of the investments only. Rohit, being a friend, an outsider wasn’t about to get anything, the SP read out the will of Mr. Alok Suri loudly, to the lawyer. “It seems Rohit might be the killer, if we go by the will and not if we go by the spots around the neck which indicate the killer as a female.
But without concrete evidence, we cannot just accuse him blindly,” the lawyer guessed. “I am sure the String is somewhere in the garden of backyard,” The Lawyer said. “Yes sir, much of the mystery can be solved if we get the string, by which Mr. Suri was choked,” replied the SP. Saturday: The next day the both of them went to the bungalow along with a search squad. Upon search they indeed found the string, it was a waist bracelet.
Immediately it was sent to the forensic department, as there must had been finger prints of the killer on it, who wrapped it around Mr. Suri’s neck. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that that the waist bracelet was of Ms.Rupali. But it does not mean that the killer was Rupali. Mr. Alok Suri gifted the bracelet to Ms.Rupali in her twenty fifth birthdays. However, this was not known to Lela. Upon, further intorogattion, it was found that she had close proximity with Mr. Alok Suri.
In the evening, The SP met the lawyer, along with the forensic reports about the footmarks and the waist bracelet. The shoe was of size eight and was indeed of a male, while the soil was of the same, which was found around the house of Mr. Roy by the SP.
