My friend living in metros usually go around boasting about the romance of living in a metro city and the culture they get to experience in large cities. But I am a Small-town lover and there are reasons behind my seemingly pig-headed love.
Reason 1 : Well, Yes! we don’t have Night Life ,but hey! we have ummmm something called “LIFE”
Agree, we do not have discos and pubs but hey we have other ways to spend nights in our small towns. Like,We have dinner with our family and friends instead of random strangers.
Reason 2 : We are free from Global Warming Guilt.
C’mon we have less population, less traffic and even less electric supply. So do not blame us when it comes to Global Warming. We ain’t melting glaciers nor are we digging holes in Ozone layer.
Reason 3 : We have Fresh air. Well ! We almost have everything fresh.
Mmmm ! We are those who get to enjoy fresh air, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. When was the last time you had something fresh in Metros?
Reason 4: We don’t have ‘Road Olympics’. We can just walk lazily and cross the road.
So, I have seen people running like Usain Bolt just to get to the other side of the road in big cities.Probably ‘why did chicken cross the road?’ was a small town joke.In small towns we just talk, laugh, take potshots and cross the road at the same time.
Reason 5: We do not have our IPL teams, but our ‘gully cricket teams’ give you those big names.
Ok,Fine we do not have our IPL teams unlike you people, but these days Indian team is full of boys from small sleepy towns. Gone are those days, when Indian team was all about players from 4 metros. All Hail MSD.
Reason 6 : We do not have Malls. We have ‘Shop wale Uncles’.
Yes! we do not have big malls like your cities. But hey! we have our ‘Shop wale uncles’ who treat you with their Santa Clause like big smiles and not those fake smiles of which caretakers in malls greet you with.
Reason 7 : Everything is nearby, And you know where to find what.
I realized how far shops are in metro cities while living in Banglore and Delhi. You want to change your spects, nearest show is just 10 Kms away. Huh! In small towns everything is just a 10 min drive from your home. And you won’t be needing google to locate shops.
Reason 8 : ‘Love thy neighbors’
When god said,’Love thy Neighbour’ the small town folks were listening carefully. We really love our neighbors. Actually whole ‘Mullaha’ is more of a large family.
Who lives in your adjoining flat btw?
